Franklin N. Cosey-Gay

Franklin is the Executive Director, Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, housed at the University of Chicago. He also serves as the co-director of the 1919 Chicago Race Riot Commemoration Project. His work emphasizes emerging Public Health practice that goes beyond examining individual, relational and community-level risk factors; instead, it demands a critical examination of the root causes of violence such as the physical, social, economic, health, and service environments to address social inequities tied to class and race.
